  • deliquesce: To melt away. To disappear as if by melting.

  • glossolalia: Fabricated and nonmeaningful speech, especially such speech associated with a trance state or certain schizophrenic syndromes.

  • banausic: Merely mechanical; routine: "a sensitive, self-conscious creature... in sad revolt against uncongenially banausic employment" (London Magazine).

  • I had to look up all three, had a fair idea what deliquesce and glossolalia meant but was stumped by banausic.

Banausic was the only word I actually knew. Some jerk used it on me in scrabble and I lost 50 points challenging them. You don't forget words when it's trauma related.

Does this mean we're going about it all wrong?

Should we be BEATING spelling into people?
