Light, well paced and fun; a little exposition heavy at the end. Plot ridiculous, this may be the first instance of me contemplating reading the books to see if they fix the movie. Loved the bad guys, loved the kids (impressed by Freddie Highmore playing twins) and enjoyed Nick Nolte’s brief appearance. Failed to suspend disbelief during the griffin riding scene and have the following theories:
  1. Griffins secrete a sticky substance from their backs that allows people to stay on - probably helps them groom their feathers too.
  2. The Grace children have thighs of steel.
  3. Magic.

I think if you have problems of suspension of disbelief over kids riding a griffin but not in any other parts of the movie, you need to possibly re-assess your suspension of disbelief. : )

I enjoyed the movie thoroughly and thus chose to complain only once :p

As I understand things it's physics related to aerodynamics specifically rather than any other element requiring suspension of disbelief :)
