I realise this is probably only of interest to me. My chicken and mulberry recipe called for thyme and after utterly failing to find any in a shop I ended up buying potted thyme and accidentally starting a herb bed. I'm starting with sweet basil, thyme and coriander.

I'm now wondering if I could make the entire front 'lawn' into a herb bed and just mow it flat every now and then - would smell nice.

I take it you are yet to join the grubby_nails group then, cos we're ALL interested in this sort of thing!
