The Pit Dragon Trilogy by Jane Yolen

Well Crap.

Ordered and received Dragon's Blood, Heat's Blood and A Sending of Dragons (note the word trilogy) and thoroughly enjoyed reading them. Was broken hearted to have book three end in a distinctly hanging sort of way and even more saddened by Her Ladyship's website - and I quote..

"I hope in the future to write a fourth book--if I can come up with a plot!"

..*mumble*

... .."mutter*

These are charming books written for the young adult or teen market and feature a young man trying to come to terms with growing up in a world where the raising, training and fighting of dragons means everything to him. He steals a young dragon, determined to raise it and become a leader in his small world only to develop a closer bond that he could ever have expected.
