If I was Ursula K. Le Guin I would have cried and then stabbed someone.

Watched with [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony for moral support and catty comments. I saw possibly the worst acting ever in the form of Ged's blacksmith father [sic] whose saving grace was the way he wasn't in most of it. To my sorrow the best acting was done by Mark Hildreth (Jasper) who has graced such productions as Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus 3-D and # G.I.Joe: Spy Troops the Movie. I kid you not; I heart imdb.

The Dragon: Ask me two questions, wizard, and I will give you the answers.
Ged: Isn't it usually three?
The Dragon: Yes, but with that you're back to two.

More Dragons! Less Wizards!

[offers hugs and soul-restoring creme brulee]

Any crying she did, she did in private, but then she went out a very politely stabbed people (http://www.slate.com/id/2111107/).

Mmm

I have decided that my culinary mission for Tuesday is not to ply people with healthy food but, in fact, to learn how to make lime brulee.

She was indeed polite, that must have been personally challenging for her. At least it would have been for me.

Oh, yum. Will be bringing A; we can be rather willing pairs of hands/guinea pigs.

Also, after reading this (http://taselby.livejournal.com/69042.html#cutid1) I have burning burning desire to at least attempt to make these (http://www.countrylines.com/recipes/?r=walnut-brownie-cupcakes1). May not, in fact, coordinate well with cooking lime brulee for I have no idea what it involves, but I can source everything on the above ingredients list once I figure how much "2-1 oz" actually is ;)

Source away!

Hmm that title, author and the name Ged vaguely ring a bell with me but I can't remember ever owning/borrowing it. Strange.

I made lime brulee once, but as I'd just made up an adaptation of standard brulee, had no idea how much lime juice to put in.

I ended up renaming it "brulee surprise". "A bit runny" was another good name for it.

till, no kitchen is complete without a blowtorch or two!

Try looking for Wizard of Earthsea, which was the name the first novel was published under. Also, in the book Ged was his secret name and we went by Sparrowhawk.

The bit I really wants is the lime flavoured custardy goodness, any sugary crisp bits will be a bonus.

Mmm blowtorch.

Yeah, once again the title, name Ursula LeGuin and names Ged and Sparrowhawk are ringing lots of bells in my head but when I read a spoiler of the story that didn't. Weird. Maybe I read it at school years ago?? I wish I knew
