Highlights of the weekend

Not watching Fargo with [info]cricketk, - must do it more often.

Car boot; wet, everything mouldy, croquet set especially disgusting. Washed everything - may wash again.. and again.

Training hilarious; practising self defence with one of our littler new boys, defended self valiantly on knees.

Shopping saddening; no squeaky fish, plentiful gardening implements. I love hardware stores.

Birthday of [info]special_trille, V. enjoyable, many people worth snuggling and talking to, arrived slightly later than intended due to T1 and bf David making breathless telephone call..

T1: Missed bus! Heeeeeeelp. *hangs up*
Phone rings, I pounce, hangs up.
Phone rings, I pounce, hangs up.
Call T1 on mobile: "Out of service" message plays.
Decide to wait for ages then drive to David's on the way and try to find them.
David arrives jogging (fear) with T1 in tow.
Frantic wrapping ensues.

Sad state of society demonstrated by following extract.

Sarren: Damn you Booboo and your evil looming!
Booboo: *giggles helplessly*
Me: Celebrate! For the first time in your life you have loomed!
Everyone: *laughs*
Scott: *laugh laugh*
Booboo: *swat*
Scott: *laughs more*
Me: *swat*

..and suddenly it was all Scott's fault. *hides*

South Beach with woofer and doofus on a park bench with chocolate croissants and a danish. Man playing v. silly game with tiny daughter sees my woofer and nobly rushes to defend child from Certain Death - woofer ignores them completely and comes bouncing back when I call him. Tragedy averted. Sheesh.

Tree climbing ensued, blame doofus entirely, may have been strange manly ritual, the bit where I slipped and grated my arm was v. manly, considered whining but couldn't justify on account of low blood loss.

Lunch with H, evil woman is leaving me to pursue dream job on other side of Australia, am happy for her and sad for me.

Lunch turned into dinner and chocolate cake because [info]ascetic_hedony's family is convinced that now he has moved in with me the poor dear can't be eating well and giving him chocolate cake will clearly fix this problem.

Finished Heroes and Villains by Angela Carter, thank you [info]cricketk. Am still rating The Bloody Chamber as finest moment so far but H&V was hallucinatory and beautiful.

Read The Thief of Always by Clive Barker - loved it, especially the illustrations, one of those dark dark kids fairy stories with a core.

Starting Tolkien and C. S. Lewis: The Story of a Friendship by Colin Duriez, only 25 pages in but looking promising. Also re-reading Consider Phlebas by Iain Banks, have acquired sequel.

Dipped into Firefly slash, still forming a reaction.

Don't do it M. Firefly fic is evil. Is no good. Just daydream it like I do.

Meanwhile I have today and tomorrow off as I've come down with a bit of flu. Am a little headachy and am freezing.

Don't listen to Boo, it's hard to find but there is good Firefly slash out there -

"Almost made Mal forget that he was supposed to be conflicted."

Tee hee.

Thanks.
