I'm sorry to say neither #1 or #2 came with definitions but my hints are as follows:

#1 does actually involve the word 'circle'
#2 the prompters are relevant here
#3 A quick departure
#4 A goal, hope or plan so far-fetched that it is extremely unlikely to be realised
#5 To fire at close range. Also to be direct and blunt
