Triple J Hottest 100 voting closes midnight (AEST) Sunday 17th January 2010

Last year Australia's 'biggest musical democracy' had a disappointing amount of female singer/songwriters represented.

This is your chance to help change that.

I googled 'Hawaiian Disease' and got Abbe May's album, and Salon telling me it's slang for 'an absence of women'...!

Done :) Though a few of the chicks got cut at the last short-listing. Its so hard to limit it down to 10!

I'm kind of in two minds about last years triple J result. On one hand I think there are a lot of female musicians that could have been represented, and who's music is worthy of being in the hottest 100 of all time, but on the other hand I really disliked the whole furore with people getting angry at Triple J for the result. I think that's quite like shooting the messenger (they certainly play enough female generated music to get me noticing).

I figure it's a reflection of the voting and the voting system... which makes it everyone's responsibility.
