Swancon 2009 - Thursday

Met my beautiful committee at the hotel by 10am and quietly wandered around confirming things we where they were supposed to be. We spent a lot of time getting organised and making sure our people took time off to eat and not go crazy.

I did some catching up and talking as well before we held the Opening Ceremony which was kinda fun. [livejournal.com profile] prk is an awesome chair and maintained the steady, quiet strength that has characterised the last 1.5 years of working together.

Space Spaces at Cons went well and covered a lot of valuable ground, I can't shut up about it so apologies to people who feel they have now heard quite enough. I'm just glad we're taking this kind of thing seriously and that we're talking about ways to empower everyone to create safer spaces, and deal with situations once they have occurred (have recorded audio).

I Am The Night: A History of the Caped Crusader was a fun romp through the last 70 years, flirting with heroes, villains and side-kicks. [livejournal.com profile] angriest was kind enough to provide the slideshow as well as let me record the panel.

Crawled home late with [livejournal.com profile] maharetr to do some last-minute sewing for her Masquerade costume and reassure the woofer that all is not lost.

Great idea to have a Safe Spaces panel on the first night, so the ideas trickle through conversations over the next days and hopefully permeate and inform con-goers.

Yeah, it was a tough programming choice, it's not a newbie panel really but I wanted it as close to the launch as possible.
