House [1] building inspection and pest inspection plus bank valuation booked, I am so working from home this afternoon
House [2] monster Feminist Housing Collective Meeting (we need a shorter name for this but let it be known that having it in a restaurant over dinner and taking minutes via iPad worked well for me) covering utilities, internet provider, insurance, renovations, moving schedule and budget. Phew. Let's do that infrequently. My poor brain is fried; when I'm less tired I am going to reflect on the difference in the way we process numbers / images etc. and how that informs how we behave
letterboxd account! this may not get a lot of use given my pathetic movie watching habits but it looks like it could be a lot of fun
have joined the International Institute of Business Analysis and have a series of workshops lined up for 2012 - work has paid for workshops which is very nice

Ear infection over, life so much nicer
Comforting emails notwithstanding, uni textbook has not arrived on schedule - Bad fishpond, bad. Also your email subscription page’s unnerving tendency to spontaneously re-tick boxes does not endear you. I wonder if your choice of ‘games’ and then ‘music’ was random
Took lilysea to IKEA to stalk beds for both of us, was exhausting, bought a ~~nest~~ single bed, I get the pleasure of assembling it tonight
Father's Day unexpectedly traumatic but in a good way, am contemplating counselling, do not wish to be triggered by good things
Work ‘do’ involving pub food, robot soccer battles and bowling. I can’t bowl, like I can’t ever remember which is my dominant hand when I’m playing – they are both that terrible, it was a surprisingly fun evening

Work, whistleblowing and women

I am kind of stupidly in love with my work’s online induction program. It has small things like using women and men of all ages and races for examples, they also use names from all over the world. They have a section on whistle blowing - what it is and how it works and it gives examples of high profile cases and talks about how those people went on to be recognized, have successful careers and receive respect. I appreciate them making an effort to portray whistleblowing in a positive light.

And on that note, Kristy Fraser-Kirk of David Jones Sexual Harassment fame is apparently not employed yet but got offers in Australia and is looking in Singapore. It’s kind a test case in my mind – does a woman get to professionally survive that kind of experience?

Asked work if I could go part-time for a month on Wednesday last week. Got headhunted on Thursday for different role (unrelated six week thing) and instead of working for 2.5 days per week I am now working on implementing Oracle EAM - yay! *frantically sources white papers*
Solar Hot Water dude called at 7:55am and apologised for waking me up - I said ‘it’s OK, I’m walking to work’ and we negotiated on when he should turn up to look at our system. He wants to see it not working so we have to turn the booster off and wait for it to cool down again. The bit that irritated me was how he kept assuming I would be home every day he suggested as if me going to work today was some sort of aberration - what part of ’I work’ could he not hear?
Thinkgeek are selling green-red lasers pointers - I want one for playtime (because... LASER POINTER) and possibly for night rogaining. I can see being able to point at things a long way away to your team being really useful, I wonder if this breaks the spirit of rogaining.

Had one of those shivering moments of rage at work where for a second, the alternatives seemed to be demonstrating the versatility of the word 'fuck' or bursting into tears. I settled for explaining exactly how I felt to someone who could fix it, turns out I speak in numbered lists when I'm that wound up
Been wrestling with work and UWA on the subject of communications technology, UWA have launched a new email interface called MyUWA which has a rather primitive (currently broken) planner function; work won't give me access to Gmail+ Gcalendar because it's a bandwidth hog and anyway UWA have provided a perfectly good alternate service - except of course it's broken. I'm thinking an iPhone may be the best answer to this dilemma

Personal Milestone! Have finished knitting 2 x jumper sleeves and started the front (or back) piece, I have 2 more winters to finish knitting this to replace my favourite jumper - it should finish disintegrating about then
I planned to take Saturday off, can't quite recall the sequence of thoughts but by 11am it seemed perfectly logical to go buy paint and start prepping my ceiling. It took 4 coats to subdue the awful Purple Walls of Doom and I've only done half the room (rest of the room over the week in stages methinks)
Coraline in 3D - was magnificent and I strongly encourage people to see it
