I felt the whole thing was a bit 'off' - you develop this life-bond by jumping it and beating it up and then you abandon it for a shinier trophy-pterodactyl.

The whole 'white boy walks in and shows the innocent tribal people how it's done' vibe wasn't working for me either :(
