Shoulder rotator cuff impingement.

No sport for two weeks; have paid a physiotherapist to hurt me and give me new exercises to do... again.

Physio also said nice things about my upper body strength for which I am choosing to forgive the excruciating shoulder massage.

Long day.

Went to an astoundingly bad presentation that could have been tastefully summarised as "Look shiny!" then got dropped home after work which was very nice. Collected [livejournal.com profile] mynxii as a dog walking aid and amused myself by throwing the ball into the water. Mmm wet dog.

Training was fabulous, did hit things a lot.

Francoiz Breut was quite something, lovely voice.

Did vast amounts of laundry, went to TKD1, went to Yum Cha, went home, showered, slothed, cuddled woofer4 snacked, went to Vultures, sat in cute Indonesian day bed2, went to the Court, hung out, danced, got a smoothie3, came home.

Phew. Happy. Tired.

1lost all the skin off the bottom of two toes
2worked out that 68" is my height
3banana, mango, strawberry and blueberry.. I approve. Can't take smoothies into the Court - fear the corrupting powers of blueberries.
4Sook_mode is [ON]

Any reports of half naked women swimming in South Perth can be attributed to Yours Truely, since the dogs were totally BLIND and happy to swim in circles and after shells I threw in to help give directions, I had to do the fetching myself. Ugh, it was squishy and yucky underfoot. Thank goodness I was wearing nice underwear. [waves to various picnickers]

Training was fabulous, am very carefully stopping when when my hip starts to pull but I still feel like skipping senior training and only training 2-3 times a week is finking out. [guilt] Was accidentally clocked in the head but I had my revenge.

BSG 13 and 14 were disappointing, I feel more like someone watching specific buttons being pushed than someone engaged with a storyline. 15 was more interesting but I guess I shouldn't spoil.

Close Range by Annie Proulx is breaking my heart, it's so ugly, surreal and depressing. I've read seven of the eleven short stories and I'm saving Brokeback Mountain for last assuming I have the emotional stamina to go the distance. The Blood Bay was definitely the easiest to relate to with it's macabre, awful yet funny ending.

Saw Underworld: Evolution, was better than I expected and very, very pretty. Almost every scene could have been a poster. Got hugs from [livejournal.com profile] mynxii, [livejournal.com profile] maharetr and [livejournal.com profile] japester, this is a Good Thing.

Did a combined training class of TKD at the Point Walter Reserve, did much training, running (gah, hills) and general playing, did play tug of war, did have a good time. ED: have interesting bruises.

Was to meet not_sister at Civic Center in Cott. for hens night pre-wedding activities. I had trouble finding them but had a second offer from some folks under a tree who offered me beer so wasn't fussed. Shopped for kayak racks, should be able to pick them up Wednesday after work. Found not_sister and was chastised for not wearing a frock. Played croquet, we had a nice afternoon catching up and chatting. Was very good to see my not_father and not_mother.

Was refused entry at the Sail and Anchor because of BYO icecream. A DEADLY weapon indeed. I hates places that do that.

SO TKD was great and so are crescent kicks especially when you get that satisfying 'thwap' when you hit something just right but also they should be limited to about six per leg because I had to stop 10 minutes before class was over and take my left hip home, apply arnica and ice it.

If I can walk tomorrow I will be happy.

Went back to TKD on Thursday for the first time in almost a year then got all excited and went on Saturday too. Just as well; warmed up everything that went into shock on Thursday. It’s great to be back, am all insecure on account of probably having forgotten everything I know which resulted in some amusing shuffling as we usually arrange ourself in order of seniority and I wasn’t feeling particularly senior. It’s going to take a little time to get back up to speed, have bruise on left elbow called Emmanuel, slightly sore shoulders and a humbling amount of things to practice.

Twelfth Night was most enjoyable. Why, oh why did we do the tragedies in high school when we could have been doing the comedies? I admit a bunch of 16 year olds sniggering ceaselessly would have been a strain but more people would have had fun.

Am reunited with ZombieMud which I can’t really see improving my life but does make me very happy. Spent a cheerful hour going through my collection of weird crap from when I used to play a lot. Have a magnificent virtual stuffed bear collection. Caught up with a bunch of people I’ve never met and was abused for my interest in role-playing a druid. [sigh]

[livejournal.com profile] juffles cracked last years Christmas present from his sister so we’ve a jigsaw puzzle on the library table which has us crouched, mumbling over it late at night. Curse you MC Escher.

Man very kindly enabled me to extend my vocabulary for describing pain. Whining aside, felt much easier after Things were Done to me and shall faithfully do my exercises. The carrot of going back to TKD next year is looking big, orange and shiny.

I will not do TKD until next year, I will not do TKD until next year, I will not do TKD until next year.

Sad, sad moment at work where I rushed in to meet the Keeper of the Keys while carrying everything in my left hand; picked up a pen to sign out a key with my right; and was wondering why my signature was looking a little crippled when I remembered I was left-handed.

Gym was fantabulous, not only is it fun but it turns out my gym instructor spent more at Supernova then I did. Plus I met a random man who offered to lend me books.

Threw balls for the woofer at Monument hill in the dark and thought about how much I love my city. Also thought about how it's kinda eerie having a pair of glowing green eyes and a tennis ball running at you.

Thursday: involved seeing episodes 1, 2 & 3 of the new Dr Who courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] cricketk and liking it a lot.

Friday: involved starting a new gym program, not moving a pool table, threatening to eat [livejournal.com profile] cricketk's housemate, waiting an eternity for pizza, playing upwords and watching twister (there will be the acquiring of, and playing, of this game).

Saturday: involved a home re-enactment of [livejournal.com profile] juffles and I having breakfast in Freo except with [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony doing the dishes after. There was also much being visited, love, Firefly, Black Books and The Boondock Saints which I have finally lured most of my friends into watching.

Sunday: involved a lot of sleeping, chatting at Dome, finding of random people not meant to be meeting at Dome and eating of indian food.

Oh and [livejournal.com profile] maharetr, the game I was playing.. Nethack

I've sprained my wrist and in a moment of inspired genius I took it to training where it mostly hid tucked away out of danger and a couple of times didn't.

Ah well, it's the right side which means I can still write and eat reasonably neatly.

Shouted a man in a clipped British accent as he jogged past in the pelting rain. He was wearing a knee length raincoat and a pair of bright Union Jack shorts.

It was bucketing down, windy and the ocean was melting into blustery grey. It was absolutely beautiful - perfect, wild and bleak.

I loved my Dalmatian deeply and was broken-hearted when she died but if I had taken her out in weather like this she would have hidden under a bush and cast imploring glances at me to take her home where it was safe, warm and dry. The woofer doesn't even notice, he trots, scampers and gambols along having the time of his soggy little life.

The run went further than I expected but not as far as I would have liked; am pleased that legs gave out before lungs. Got back to the car absolutely soaked and realised clever me brought no towel. Stripped off outer layer and drove home in underwear on the assumption that anyone silly enough to be out in this weather would be firmly admiring the road.

The woofer then proceeded to mug me – getting wet is an excuse to play the towel game!

Is there a collective noun for a group of mandolinists?

Have discovered Connoisseurs Crème Brulee. I’m doomed.

I think I went out to get bruise cream[0] and more liquid iron supplement[3] but my haul is far more impressive than that! I have beyoootiful blue and silver scarves[4] and vast amounts of dried pineapple[6] and a lemon tart[1].

Have also noticed new toenail polish is still unchipped after a week of training[2] which is very unusual, may finally have discovered a brand worthy of my lifestyle - plus they do BRIGHT PINK.

[0] Because can't do a downward knife-hand chop board break without driving knee into floor ...yet, and cleverly landed -right- on top of the bruise from Thursday[5].
[1] Of which I ate half as Wendy nicked the other half when my back was turned.
[2] Two hours of class - usual class plus senior training slid into three today as we failed to notice time passing. Have tres cool new arm lock and elbow strike.
[3] The difference between being a blood donor and being kicked out and sent home, I do not absorb iron well.
[4] Not that my collection was in any way insufficient but.. pretty!
[5] Faithfully ice-packed it with cute baby seal shaped ice-thingy from freezer - do you have any idea how hard it is to strap a baby seal to your knee?
[6] Health food store man says pineapple contains anti-inflammatories.

Puppy-sitting Wendy started a little nervously with Wendy attempting to spend the first night a) Digging out through the front door and b) Standing nobly on my bed peering wistfully out the window. After that she calmed down and was fabulous company for myself and the woofer although this may be partially attributed to my being the owner of chicken flavoured biscuits. I think having two woofers is great although having a blonde and a mulberry tree has certain obvious disadvantages.

Saturday
involved walking the woofers, house-cleaning, doing laundry, going to training, installing shelves, Orienteering and going to the movies.

Sunday
had been allotted to slothing (three-toed variety) but somehow found self participating in a public demonstration of defence from knife attacks for tsunami relief festival. Was fun and now know that reflex reaction to someone lunging at me with a knife is to want to jump on them and hit them - lots.

Am feeling a little wounded here, all minor injuries, of which there are many, do not come close to the self-inflicted running_into_furniture bruise that is currently working it's way through the colour spectrum. This is leading me to believe that the home is a dangerous place and consider the viability of padding it. Or possibly of buying lots of round furniture.

Having said that weekend was fabulous; muchos training, the breaking of boards and much sparring (new bruise on ankle named 'Mel'); some orienteering at a very sedate pace followed by multi-woofer wrestling match; some beautiful time at the beach and river plus vast amounts of lying about watching DVDs.

Was asked what my position was on the subject of UFOs by someone who feels that various interested parties have been covering up the existence of multiple visits / crashes and have been accused of being short-sighted and unreasonable. It seems logical to me that if an intelligent alien species with space flight had lost that many planes+pilots on Earth that they would have come round asking after them..

[livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony took me to the Jan de Jong annual demonstration of Ju Jutso, Aikido and err other stuff I don't know the technical name for but looks like a lot of fun.

High points included sacrifice throw demonstrations whereby you hurl yourself to the ground and the bad guy somehow flings himself over your head and lands on the ground with bone crunching enthusiasm, self defence whereby attractive young woman starts with verbal warnings and builds up to hurling offending bad guy to the ground with bone crunching enthusiasm and self defence from people with weapons whereby one hurls bad guy to the ground with bone crunching enthusiasm and hurts them til they give you their weapons.

They did it on the UWA foreshore which was very nice what with the green grass, blue skies, trees, kids, dogs and river. Felt very summery.

Got distracted by a man with the biggest, blackest Great Dane I've ever seen. This dog had a head a lot bigger than mine and it says a lot about the breed that children kept running up and fearlessly petting it. I wants one.

It's not healthy to be leashed for so long and then unleashed.

Arm is better, OK not better as in better but as better as it's going to get right now so I went back to training last night and was bouncy at people and answered innocent questions involving how I was with polysyllabic glee.

I even faithfully ice-packed it after training - this might have to do with having acquired a cute stuffed seal pup ice-bag you store in the freezer but I choose to believe it was out of a deep and mature concern for my own wellbeing.

Aww cute.

Had one of those magic moments down at South Beach last night.

It was windy and wild and the sky was one huge roiling mass of dark grey curls, I could see the rain falling all over Fremantle and from the way the wind was screaming it was coming South fast. Huge white mounds of foam were coming over the groin - it was way too choppy out there to form proper waves, and the woofer was doing that manic scampering that means even he noticed the weather was inclement.

Got to the car, let woofer in, closed door and heavens opened up. People appeared from nowhere and bolted into cars - fear the jogging lady in the short, tight lycra. By the time we left the car park I could barely see the road and all the smug panting from the back seat fogged up the windows something cruel.

Lo! We got home and the rain STOPPED.

Me: 1
Elements: 0

Visited training to watch people get grading results and ended up hanging about after (groupie) chatting and listening to parents telling stories about lies they have told their kids. Winners include:

"The Icecream Van always plays the music when it has run out of icecream"
"The Tooth fairy pays more for teeth in perfect condition"

Fake Telephone call..

"Yes, I have a little girl"
"Not allowed to watch Simpsons?"
"Never?"
"Trouble with the police?"

Just wait til she grows up and realises..

Friday

Red Dates! How could I have forgotten them?

Dinner with mother, aunt and second cousin I had never met who turned out to be suspiciously similar.. this genetics thingy is a bit alarming sometimes.. she understands about dogs, books, drinking chocolate, the need to draw diagrams and muscly running.

Came home to [personal profile] ascetic_hedonyin bed with three women watching anime porn - had to change mental state rather abruptly. Am sorry to say would rather read the local newspaper property guide although this may be due to not having a Japanese schoolgirl fixation. Can happily watch Booboo being tickled though.

Saturday

Beach, ball throwing, jigsaw assembling and going to training to watch wistfully and take photos of friends when they can't fight back ( Moo hoo ha ha ).

Sunday

Slept in until 7:30 and then the pitiful whines got to me and there was a long walk down by the river. There was some fine puttering and waiting for the rest of the world to wake up - eventually broke about 10:30 and started calling people. House-moving of [personal profile] cupidsbow and [personal profile] scotsnow accomplished with minimal tears although found a splinter in an unmentional place further down the track. Many lovely people arrived with vehicles, hand eye coordination, bad witty comments and drove [personal profile] scotsnow batty by moving things.

Monday

Mental Note: Don't leave the lights off if you have a black dog whose life ambition is to snooze on your feet.
